The LA Weekly writes it up here, promising recent acrylics on canvas and paper, a selection of equally masterful and fragmentary ink drawings, plus a recent series of one-of-a-kind hand-decorated heirloom dishes (?!)

Every September, Canada puts on Word On The Street, which is a book festival in almost every major city in the country. (Sadly, not in Montreal) They are incredibly supportive of comics, so much so that last Sunday Joe Sacco was in Vancouver, Chester Brown was in Toronto and Seth was in Halifax. Calum Johnston of Strange Adventures sent us some pictures, saying that the place was packed, with the graphic novel area the most packed. Posted by Peggy Burns at 11:41 AM
Just a quick post that D+Q has a new distribution partner in the UK: Publishers Group UK (or PGUK). For all stores in the UK who want to order our books visit here. Posted by Peggy Burns at 9:47 AM
Paul Gravett is the Director of Comica in London at the ICA. I had the pleasure of meeting Paul a few years ago at SPX, and he is a delight--not to mention he has great taste in comics. (He wrote the introductions for both our Dupuy & Berberian books, Get a Life and Maybe Later.)
Just take a look at his 2006 Comica line-up next month. What I wouldn't do to see Moomin Memoirs, hear Guy Delisle speak, and read the comics-themed Sunday Independent(well that's probably the one thing I can do!) The special issue of the Independent will preview Pyongyang (Jonathan Cape is publishing Guy's books in the UK this Fall) but the paper will serialize the UNEDITED and UNCENSORED version of Chris Ware's Building Stories. UNCENSORED--I didn't even know that existed!
(Above: The cover to Graphic Novels: Everything You Need to Know--just one of the smart books Gravett has penned, be sure to check it out.) Posted by Peggy Burns at 4:51 PM
Today's edition of the Japan Times features an interview with Yoshihiro Tatsumi while he was in California this past July and is coupled with a review of Abandon the Old In Tokyo.
Here is a pic of Mr. & Mrs. Tatsumi at the Getty Center while in LA.
Here is another review of the new book in the Las Vegas Weekly. Posted by Peggy Burns at 8:59 AM

Small Press Expo TV Commercial
The folks at SPX created this tv commercial to air in the DC market before the show on October 13th & 14th. Bill Kartalopoulos of Egon is in charge of programming and has a great line-up in the works. The schedule will be announced soon. Posted by Peggy Burns at 12:00 PM
It would seem that Mr. Ron Regé, Jr. has designed a sign for a store owned by Tahli Harkham and David Kramer (yes, that Kramer!) At this time, we are unsure what is sold in the store. We think it might be back issue comics or vinyl dolls. We do know that the store is called "Family" and that Jordan Crane houses a studio within. Posted by Tom Devlin at 4:28 PM
We are very excited to announce the news from last night's Doug Wright Awards in Toronto that Michel Rabagliati received the Best Book of the Year Award for Paul Moves Out. Congratulations Michel!
Reports from around the web include the exciting news that luminaries such as Sook Yin Lee, Don McKellar and Stuart Maclean were in attendance. And that our own Chester Brown wore a tie! ( Thanks to Salgood Sam for the tip off and pic) The CBC Arts Tonight taped the interview between Seth and Chester, we will let you know the airdate...

And the race is on! The link to the First Amendment Project Auction on Ebay is live and furious! It looks like the auction to have Chris Ware name a character after the winning bidder in ACME Novelty will raise a lot of money for a good cause. Luckily for my wallet, there already was a character named Peggy in ACME! Only 9 days left. Posted by Peggy Burns at 7:00 PM
I know that short of posting the entire book, no one is going to believe that Joe Matt has finished the next issue of Peepshow (#14.) Well, he has and it should be in stores by mid-November. {Left: A panel from page 13!!} Posted by Tom Devlin at 4:12 PM

All of us at D+Q were in for quite a treat on Friday afternoon when we were able to meet cartoonist Guy Delisle of Pyongyang and Shenzhen in person. For most of the past year, we were only able to communicate via a group email address that reached a central office where Guy was in Burma. Guy stopped in Montreal on his way back from his hometown of Quebec, before heading back to France where he lives. Three bottles of wine and a good time were shared by all present. Here is a pic of Guy with his publisher, Chris Oliveros. Posted by Peggy Burns at 9:09 AM
