This Weekend's Comics Events: Launches, talks & fests all over North America!

This has been an incredibly exciting, busy week for comics events-- we mentioned them all here, but it's a lot, so I'd like to remind you of what's going on this weekend, all over North America!  

Tonight, Friday November 7th, at 7pm, you can catch John Porcellino presenting The Hospital Suite at A Room of One's Own in Madison, WI. There will be a slideshow with a signing to follow. Tomorrow, Saturday November 8th, John will be at Milwaukee Zine Fest from 11am-5pmDetails about both of these events, and the rest of John's tour, are here!

If you're in Lethbridge, AB tonight, Friday November 7th, you can come to the opening of Seth's Dominion, which is now on view at the University of Lethbridge's Main Gallery. Seth will be doing an artist's talk and giving a tour of his town from 7-9pm. Details here

Tomorrow, Saturday November 8th, is Canzine Vancouver, and Mimi Pond is the festival's first-ever featured speaker! Canzine is open 1pm-7pm, and Mimi Pond's panel begins at 4pm, in the Djavad Mowafaghian Cinema of the Goldcorp Centre for the Arts. Your 5$ admission to the festival includes entry to this panel. Learn more here!

If you're in Brooklyn, NY, you'll already know that Comic Arts Brooklyn is happening this weekend. Saturday November 8th, from 11am-7pm, you'll find Drawn & Quarterly at booths U21+U22 in Mt. Carmel Church, with four hot debuts and signings with Julie Doucet, Aisha Franz, Michael DeForge, Adrian Tomine, and Anders Nilsen! Sunday, November 9th, catch a panel with Art Spiegelman or a panel with Aisha Franz, Lisa Hanawalt, and Jillian Tamaki at the Wythe Hotel. Our full signing schedule, panel information, and debut details are here

If, instead, you're on the west coast- specifically, in Los Angeles, CA- catch Chris Ware in conversation with Marjane Satrapi tomorrow, Saturday November 8th, at the University of Southern California's Bovard Auditorium. The talk begins at 7pm. Admission is free, but you must RSVP beforehand. Details here

And finally, finish your LA weekend up at Meltdown Comics on Sunday, November 9th, where Fabien Vehlmann will join other reputed French bande dessinée artists, along with LA comix artists, for a discussion on the international comics scene. The talks begins at 2pm. Admission is free, but you must RSVP beforehand
