from Kate Beaton's Step Aside, Pops, excerpted in Drawn and Quarterly's Free Comic Book Day 2015 offering

I'll bet you've spent a lot of time lately dreaming of how you're going to spend those coming-soon spring days-- well, mark this one on the calendar: Free Comic Book Day 2015 is happening on Saturday, May 2nd, at a beloved independent comics shop near you! Drawn & Quarterly is participating, of course, celebrating our 25th anniversary with a special all-ages double feature that previews two of our biggest 2015 titles!

Wow-ee, right? On one side, you'll find an excerpt from Jillian Tamaki's SuperMutant Magic Academy, which collects the stories of teenaged mutants and witches she has been serializing online for the last four years. Jillian is hilarious while accurately portraying what it's like to be in high school-- her characters do have superpowers, but these come second to their ordinary-teen concerns. You can learn more about SuperMutant Magic Academy here

On the other side, you'll find another sweet lil' excerpt: Kate Beaton's Step Aside, Pops. In this volume, Kate returns with a refined pen, ready to make jokes at the expense of hunks, army generals, scientists, and Canadians in equal measure, so if you loved Hark! A Vagrant (and I know you did), you'll want to have this. Step Aside, Pops isn't in stores until September. You can learn more about it here

It's gonna be one jam-packed Free Comic Book Day offering, and stores will have only a limited amount, so show up early to get your paws on this one!
