D+Q at TCAF 2015 - Friday May 8th
TCAF Debut Drawn & Quarterly: 25 years of contemporary cartooning, comics, and graphic novels
You guys, it's finally here! The Toronto Comic Arts Festival is this very weekend and we couldn't be more excited to share all our big plans with you. With almost twenty authors in attendance, this signing and panel schedule got a lil wild so I'm going to break it down by date (this here's Friday, and here are links to Saturday and Sunday). Peppered throughout these posts are images from our authors in attendance and our TCAF debuts.
As you no doubt know, it all kicks off Friday night:
Friday May 8th, doors at 6 pm, event at 6:30 pm
The Bram and Bluma Appel Salon at the Toronto Reference Library (789 Yonge St)
TCAF Kickoff Event: D+Q's 25th anniversary with Lynda Barry, Jason Lutes, Seth, Jillian Tamaki, and Adrian Tomine
Join comics journalist and critic Sean Rogers as he interviews a spectrum of D+Q cartoonists in this special gala event for The Toronto Comic Arts Festival 2015! Cartoonists include Lynda Barry (Syllabus, What It Is), Jason Lutes (Berlin), Seth (Palookaville), Jillian Tamaki (SuperMutant Magic Academy), and Adrian Tomine (Optic Nerve). This spirited discussion will encompass the variety of artistic styles and approaches to comics and comics-making, their shared similarities and points of departure. Tickets are sold out but there will be a rush line day-of.
This talk will be followed by a signing. Copies of D+Q 25 will be available for sale for the first time EVER, as well as our festival debuts Optic Nerve 14, Berlin 19, SuperMutant Magic Academy, Palookaville 22, and of course, Syllabus.
