D+Q HQ news: Sruti Islam promoted + welcome Tomoko Kanai
Drawn & Quarterly is pleased to announce that Sruti Islam has been promoted to publicist. In this position, Sruti will be responsible for planning and executing book tours, arranging press coverage, and other key day-to-day publicity activities.
Sruti began working as marketing assistant at D+Q in November 2015 and quickly proved herself an invaluable member of the team, as well as a keen reader with a deep knowledge of the literary and comics community. Many will have encountered her smiling face at book festivals and library conferences over the past two years. Born and raised in Montreal, Sruti completed a Communicatons and Cultural Studies bachelor degree at Concordia. When she applied for the opening with a cover letter that referenced her love of Adrian Tomine and Elena Ferrante, and even more so when we saw her personal writing work and deep love of Beyonce, we knew that Sruti was going to be an exciting new addition to the team.
We would also like to offer a hearty welcome to Tomoko Kanai, our newest office staffer. She joins the team as our Accounting Assistant, helping our fearless finance director Ann Cunningham and she is currently reading and greatly enjoying Poppies of Iraq. Welcome, Tomoko!
