Reading a collection of Tom Gauld's comics for the Guardian is like walking through a bookstore with a smart, literate friend who grabs books off the shelf and cracks the most piercing and hilarious jokes.
Tom's newest collection, Baking with Kafka, is even funnier than the previous, You're All Just Jealous of My Jetpack, if that's even possible. The drawing is perfect and the jokes hit again and again and if you're reading this you already know this book is for you.
I would not hesitate to say that this book is also destined to be a favorite of that teacher or librarian friend of yours. Who doesn't love a good epic fantasy joke or more importantly a great Jonathan Franzen joke?
Baking with Kafka is in stores today. Scootie your bootie on to the nearest bookstore and buy one for yourself, your lover, and your mother. Tom will also be on tour across the West Coast. Texas, LA, San Fran, Berkeley, Seattle, Portland: we're talkin' to you!
