Reader's Digest reviews Poppies of Iraq

“Poppies of Iraq” / Reader's Digest / September 1, 2017

Born to a French mother and Iraqi father, Brigitte Findakly spent her formative years in Mosul, Iraq, before her family fled to Paris amid growing turmoil in the region. Here, she reflects on a childhood caught between cultures. The illustrations, by Findakly’s husband, Lewis Trondheim, vividly capture an oppressive regime as seen from a kid’s guileless point of view.
