The nominees for this year’s Will Eisner Comic Industry Awards have been released, and it’s a good year for Image Comics, which not only has the most nominations of any publisher — 19 in total, with DC coming in second with 17 — but also makes a clean sweep of the best new series category as a whole.
DC’s Mister Miracle series picks up four nominations all for itself — best limited series, best writer for Tom King, best penciller/inker for Mitch Gerads and best cover artist for Nick Derington — underscoring King’s success as a whole; he received five nominations as a whole, including best writer, best limited series for Mister Miracle, best continuing series for Batman, best short story for his piece in Swamp Thing Winter Special, and best graphic album-reprint for Marvel’s The Vision hardcover.
Alex di Campi and Jeff Lemire, both also nominated for Best Writer, received four nominations apiece.
The full list of nominations is below; the Eisners will be presented at a ceremony during San Diego Comic Con on July 19, at the Hilton San Diego Bayfront Hotel.
