The Oklahoman Features two Drawn and Quarterly titles on Top 10 Graphic Novels of 2019 List

“Word Balloons: Top 10 graphic novels of 2019” / The Oklahoman / MATTHEW PRICE / January 3, 2020

In 2019, comics in book form continued to be a growth area for many, especially in the young adult and youth markets. These books, commonly called graphic novels, have become an entrenched form in bookstores and comic shops in recent decades. The following are my picks for the 10 best graphic novels of 2019.

"Clyde Fans," by Seth

In a story developed and released over the past two decades, Seth examines the decaying relationship of two brothers trying to save a family business.

"The River at Night," by Kevin Huizenga

Everyman character Glenn Ganges reflects on his life, career and marriage as he’s unable to sleep after drinking coffee late at night. Like cartoonist Chris Ware, Huizenga is a master of using the comics form to experiment and explore.
